Sumeos is a footwear shop run from Estonia by Mervantis OÜ. We sell boots, shoes, sandals and slippers from three makers — Samelin, OmaKing and Nesna Lobben — and nothing else.
What we are trying to do
Sell durable Northern European footwear at a price that is not padded. The same shoes are sold by a number of European shops at very different prices; we check what they are charging and set ours below it, then keep the margin honest rather than the discount theatrical.
Where we cannot sell something at a fair price and still cover the cost of getting it to you, we do not list it. That is why the range is smaller than our supplier’s catalogue.
How we pick
- Repairable construction. Stitched soles and full-grain leather, so a cobbler can extend the life of the shoe.
- Materials that age. Vegetable-tanned leather, pressed sheep wool, Vibram rubber. No bonded leather, no collapsing foam.
- A maker with a name. Every pair says who made it and in which town.
Where the shoes come from
All three makers manufacture in Northern Europe — Samelin and OmaKing in Estonia, Nesna Lobben in Norway — under EU labour and environmental rules. Orders ship from Estonia.
